TRANSPORTATION STATUS FOR 2012-2013

Letters will be sent home in the next couple of weeks regarding your child’s transportation status. If you have used the service before, a form will be included in the envelope so you can re-apply. If you have never used the service or are technically out of the transportation zone, you will not receive a letter. You may go to the Board’s website at www.lbpsb.qc.ca under “Transportation” and download and print a form should you wish to apply for this service. This form will appear on the website in the next couple of weeks.

Dear Parents and Friends:

Welcome to Allion Elementary School’s Website!

Our website is designed to make you more familiar with our bilingual school, located in the heart of the city of LaSalle, which is on 9th Avenue and Central Street; right beside LaSalle Comprehensive High School.

This website contains pertinent information which is updated on a regular basis and also lists many of the school procedures in place to maintain a peaceful school where everyone feels safe and welcomed. I hope that in perusing our website many of your questions will be answered; if not, please contact the school and our school secretary will be happy to assist you. I am also available to meet with you, simply make an appointment with the school secretary and time will be set-aside just for you to meet with me to discuss things in more detail without interruption.

As a staff, we believe that open communication is important in nurturing our children into leading citizens of tomorrow. Parents are welcome and encouraged to become active members by joining the various parent committees or simply volunteering. The parent committees are: Governing Board, Day Care Advisory Committee, Home and School Committee, and Graduation Committee. Volunteer opportunities vary from helping out in the library, helping out with the school concert, choir, chaperoning during field trips, and the like.

The school’s newsletter, The Echo, is distributed electronically, through our ConnectEd Messaging System, on a monthly basis and will also be posted on the school’s website. I will also issue a Principal’s Update on a regular basis. The update will be distributed through ConnectEd and also posted on our website. Teachers will regularly post information on our website to report on class news and activities. Therefore, visit our website on a daily basis for up-to-date news. Also, if you have not already done so, I recommend providing your e-mail addresses to the school secretary so that you are well informed of what is happening on a day to day basis.

The staff and I welcome you to Allion Elementary School; a school nurturing leading citizens of tomorrow!

Warmest regards,

Carmela di Iorio
Principal
